#04 - Hooks & Turrets


Hey hey again!

It’s Matt and I’m excited to share some updates on Fractal Sailor!
Our main goal right now is to build a fully functional prototype featuring the core game loop, core mechanics, and some starter content. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been focused on optimizing the graphics, especially the rendering pipeline and networking systems. After that came the fun part: designing and creating tools and weapons!

One of the coolest new features is an automatic turret cannon you can deploy anywhere to help defend against the mysterious Fractal creatures. We’ve also added a grappling hook that lets you zip around the environment and explore the fractal faster.


Right now, we’re working on implementing at least three different objectives for players to complete either solo or with friends. Along the way, you’ll mine rare minerals, uncover valuable resources and face off against some strange creatures.


Over the next few months, we’ll be focusing on wrapping up these core objectives and finally bringing in music and sound design to the game!
